The Prairie Club, located just outside Valentine, NE has two 18-hole championship courses (Dunes and Pines). The Dunes course checks in at #3 in our rankings of top courses in the state. A true links-style course, the Dunes can stretch to 8,000 yards from its secret back tees!
Featuring dramatic elevation changes and incredibly scenic views of the surrounding Sandhills, the Dunes Course requires attention on every shot. One of our favorite things about The Dunes Course is its large greens that allow the golfer to get creative with short game shots. Large fairways offer relief for the golfer, but taking the proper angle is a must if you want shorter approaches.
The scenic Pines Course features many ponderosa pine trees couples with incredible views of the Snake River Canyon. The course most recently hosted the Nebraska Match Play Championship in 2015 which was won by Michael Colgate of Lincoln.
Course Architect Graham Marsh says it best: “I have attempted to blend these two unique forms of golf into an experience that excites and challenges players through a collection of holes on each nine that move seamlessly through the many dramatic and varied landforms of the property. It is my dream that the course will be remembered as one having 18 distinct holes, each with its own character that seduces and lures players into returning for the sheer joy of the challenge and the experiences. I found it incredible good fortune that I should have had the opportunity to design a course that encompassed two of my favorite styles of golf. I will never forget the journey. I trust your journey on The Pines Course is equally memorable.”
