Executive Director/CEO, David Honnens:

David Honnens, PGA was born and raised in Lincoln, NE where he was a standout golfer at Lincoln Northeast High School.  After graduation, he attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication  and a minor in Public Relations.  David was a member of the men’s golf team and in his Senior year he was named by the Golf Coaches Association of America an All-America-Scholar.  Upon graduation David’s passion for golf led him to work for his mentor, John Craw, PGA and Past President of the Nebraska Section PGA at Holmes Park Golf Course.  Under Craw’s tutelage, David began his journey towards PGA Membership.  In the Fall of 2008, David transitioned to Happy Hollow Club to work for Mike Antonio, PGA, Honorary-President of the Nebraska Section PGA.  In the Spring of 2009, David attained his PGA Class A Membership.  In November of 2009, the Nebraska Section PGA Selection Committee hired David to succeed Bruce Lubach, PGA who had just completed 21 years as the Sections Executive Director/CEO.  David is passionate about serving the nearly 270 men and women of the Nebraska Section PGA and under his tenure Section programming has grown considerably and he currently resides over the newly formed Nebraska Section PGA Foundation.  In his free time, David spends time on the golf course with his children, Elly (11), Carter (8) and his wife Erin of now 15 years.

Our Mission

The mission of the Nebraska Section PGA is to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry.

The Nebraska Section PGA will accomplish this mission by enhancing the skills of its professionals and the opportunities for amateurs, employers, manufacturers, employees and the general public.

In so doing, the Nebraska Section PGA will elevate the standards of the professional golfer’s vocation, enhance the economic well- being of the individual member, stimulate interest in the game of golf, and promote the overall vitality of the game.

 

About the Nebraska PGA

The Nebraska Section of the PGA is one of 41 Sections that together comprise the PGA of America.

The Nebraska Section PGA is a non-for-profit organization comprised of approximately 245 PGA Members and 24 Apprentices who strive to promote the enjoyment and growth of the game of golf. The Nebraska Section PGA encompasses the entire State of Nebraska, western fifth of Iowa and a small portion of South Dakota including Dakota Dunes and Yankton. The Section office is located in Lincoln, NE and acts as a resource for local and national golf information for the golf professional and amateur player alike. Our members are often referred to as “Club Professionals”, not to be mistaken as PGA Tour Professionals.

Each Nebraska Section PGA Professional serves as an expert in the ever-changing business of golf. They are the leading expert players and teachers, skilled business managers, community leaders, and superior merchandisers who have dedicated their careers to the local delivery of these services.
